Deganit Stern Schocken

Deganit Stern Schocken’s Figure of Speech neckpiece presents a composition that is both architectural and performative. Its structural clarity is defined by a central white form in polystyrene encased within a scaffold of stainless steel and accented by moments of preciousness in silver 14 karat gold and cubic zircon. The juxtaposition of materials from industrial to ornamental generates a dynamic visual tension that invites close inspection.

The geometry of the piece is assertive but not rigid. Curved lines wrap and hold the central element in place suggesting containment without confinement. Negative space plays a critical role allowing the piece to feel simultaneously dense and airy. Its scale paired with the crisp contrast of white and metallic tones makes the piece as much a sculptural object as a wearable one. In this way Figure of Speech operates as a visual pause an articulation of form that commands attention through proportion contrast and restraint.
