María Ignacia Walker

Memory is fragile. It is often soft around the edges, yet certain moments hold a weight that lingers. In the series, From Memory, María Ignacia Walker captures this tension through a brooch that feels both delicate and grounded. Pale, feathery fibers radiate outward in a soft, cloud-like form, their movement contrasted by a dense, golden metal core at the center. The piece invites touch, its layered textures evoking the way memories can be both fleeting and deeply embedded.

Walker’s work often explores the body as a keeper of memory, using materials that echo cycles of renewal and loss. Here, the fibrous fringe recalls what is shed and regenerate, while the golden element anchors the piece, suggesting what remains constant beneath the surface. When worn, the brooch becomes a living part of the body it adorns, blurring the boundary between what is held close and what slowly drifts away.
